The Social Venture Partners Arizona Fall Partner event is one of our largest convenings of the year with more than 60 Partners and invited guests mixing, mingling, and discussing how to make an impact in the Valley. Early October means gorgeous weather in Phoenix allowing for a truly perfect night at the home of David Paul who generously hosted the event. Pictures from the evening are on Facebook.
Board Chair Diane Walker discussed SVPAZ’s impact in the Valley; this year, we deployed more than $100,000 to Valley organizations doing work in arts and culture, social services, education, and social enterprise capacity building. These dollars were amplified through our unique model of engaged philanthropy with one Investee saying “Our grant from SVP is enabling us to grow in a way that would not be possible without it. We will double the number of people served by our organization as a result of SVP funding and the momentum that funding has helped us gain.”
Partner and Board Member Jessica Gabry briefed attendees on our Fall Recruitment Campaign. As we seek to grow the Partnership to expand our impact – we need to on-board new Partners. This fall we have a goal to bring on 20 new engaged philanthropists by our holiday party in early December. Partner Julie Johnson is spearheading the campaign and we are looking for current Partners to join one of our recruitment teams (led by Julie Johnson, Jessica Gabry, and Todd Belfer) or simply send us names of those who might be interested in SVPAZ. If you would like to join a team or know of someone you’d like to be a Partner, please let Sentari know with additional details to follow.
Partner and Board Member Suzanne Hensing shared updates on Fast Pitch, our signature event, which is scheduled for March 28, 2017 – so please mark your calendars. We have a goal of 700 attendees so please reach out to your networks to ensure a great audience for our social entrepreneurs. Applications are currently being accepted; if you know of an innovative organization, please encourage them to apply, and share our blog on the Top 10 Reasons to Apply to Fast Pitch. New this year, we are introducing a for-profit social entrepreneur award to hopefully engage a new set of organizations in the Valley.
Executive Director and Partner Terri Wogan-Calderón also discussed upcoming events. Please mark your calendars for our annual Think-Tank-a-Thon (November 2) and panel on Foster Care (November 16). Look for details in the Midweek Missive.
And Communications Manager Meghan Leatherman, who on-boarded in June, encouraged everyone to engage in SVPAZ social media channels, read the Missive, and come to her with any blog and/or content ideas. SVPAZ social media channels:
