Meet the Partners: Suzanne Hensing

May 26, 2015

Suzanne Hensing

SVP Arizona is filled with talented, charitable partners who are community champions and business leaders, each using their time and talent to create a unique stamp in our network. Here, Suzanne Hensing, a partner of three years, answers our questions…

What four words would other people use to describe you?

  • Kind/generous
  • Motivated
  • Empathetic
  • Respectful

What are your hobbies?

  • Cooking
  • Exercising
  • Gardening
  • Golf
  • I love dogs

If you had only $1 to spend on a cause, where would you spend it and why?

I would use it to help the fight against trafficked women and young boys. I am passionate about this issue and will do what I can to help stop this horrific crime against young, innocent children and young adults. In most cases, they are overtaken and taken advantage of due to their horrific circumstances.  They need advocates to help protect them and to help stop this crime against humanity.

Why did you join SVP?

I attended a Fast Pitch presentation three years ago and was so impressed with the event, I had to join SVP. I am now co-chairing the event, and have done so for the past two years.

What brought you to the Valley?

I am originally from Iowa and moved to Arizona after I finished my undergraduate education at the University of Iowa. I wanted to continue my career in health care, as a leader in neurological/neurosurgical ICU nursing. I found my niche at Samaritan Health and later moved into an executive VP role at what became Banner Health, where I enjoyed my career for 28 years.

What is your most gratifying moment with SVP? How did it make you feel?

Co-chairing Fast Pitch 2015 and experiencing the evening from both behind the stage and on stage.  I felt so proud to be a leader in SVP and to have the opportunity to co-lead such a great event.  Fast Pitch supports the nonprofit community in such a tremendous way, allowing the leaders to communicate their message and drive support to their organizations both organizationally and financially.
