SVP Arizona is filled with talented, charitable partners who are community champions and business leaders, each using their time and talent to create a unique stamp in our network. Here, Jessica Gabry, a partner of one year, answers our questions…
What four words would other people use to describe you?
- Precocious
- Passionate
- Witty
- Small
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy hiking, yoga, wine, brunch (or eating in general) and documentaries. I spend most of my free time sleeping, laying in the sun with a good book, or volunteering!
If you had only $1 to spend on a cause, where would you spend it and why?
I like to get the most for my money, so I would probably go hunting at garage sales or second hand stores to find as many cheap books as I could find to donate to an after school program or classroom.
Why did you join SVP?
To grow my philanthropy career in the Phoenix Valley. I chose SVP because they help vet nonprofits to work with very well, so it makes my volunteer time more efficient and effective.
What brought you to the Valley?
I was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs. I moved to Phoenix 12 years ago and still haven’t found a good reason to leave.
What is your most gratifying moment with SVP? How did it make you feel?
Co-Chairing Fast Pitch. Seeing an end to end impact with all of the nonprofits we assisted by putting on Fast Pitch was really fulfilling for me. I put so much time and thought in to the entire program with the team, so when it finally came it was awesome to stand back and feel proud. Truth: I cried when it was over because I missed the involvement and being around all the passion. I am so excited to be part of the process again next year!
